| I've heard CrossFit is dangerous. Is this true? |

Q: I’ve heard CrossFit is dangerous. Is this true? A: Definitely not. Here at CrossFit Elysium we aim to achieve high levels of intensity with every workout. Intensity is where most athletic and health gains are made, and lack of intensity is the reason most people “doing their routine” at the gym or jogging make ZERO PROGRESS. Unfortunately, some people equate high intensity with danger. This is not the case. With proper coaching and guidance which we provide in every class, our athletes push themselves to the maximum of their capabilities but do so safely, with proper form and mechanics. By challenging their bodies, our athletes actually become MORE SAFE by being better able to handle the challenges of life. Similarly, by teaching and enforcing proper mechanics, we enable you to become biomechanically efficient, and to use your body in the way it was meant to be used. All of this results in increased safety. Athletic activities traditionally regarded as safe, such as long-distance running, have actually been shown to cause marked joint damage, loss of flexibility and repetitive stress injuries. We don’t believe in grinding our clients down. We believe in building strong bodies. Of course, we recognize exercise is not 100% safe. Nothing is, unless you sit on your couch all day and never go outside. Of course, if you do THAT say hello to your heart attack, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc- is that any safer? The possibility of doing something unsafe is the inevitable result of living a full, active life. |
