How come you guys don't have any machines?
Wednesday, 09 March 2011 15:47

Q: How come you guys don’t have any machines like my local globo-gym?

A: In a nutshell- machines don’t work. They force your body to move through artificial planes and ranges of motion that nature never intended. When your body doesn’t move in the way it was meant to (meaning, a functional movement), athletic gains are minimal at best. In addition, most modern machines are designed to “isolate” a specific muscle group. Think about this- in nature, in sports, in life, do you EVER use a single muscle group alone, without the support of the rest of the surrounding musculature? Obviously, the answer is no, but the fitness industry has managed to sell this line of nonsense to the public for decades. By isolating muscle groups, machines fail to adequately train the body and result in overuse injuries that were never seen before these machines came into vogue.

You’ve probably heard of legions of people who slave away for hours, doing their routine on the machines, wondering why they make little to no progress. Maybe this describes you. We’re familiar with it. The good news is, if you come in and train with us you will make progress for life. Anyone in a deconditioned state can jump on machines and make some small progress for a while, but they will inevitably stall and fail to get stronger/lose weight/get more fit. We offer training and fitness for a lifetime.
