CrossFit.com is THE mainsite, the place where it all started. Videos of workouts, movements, journal articles- everything is here and the vast majority of it is free. Any serious CrossFitter will find themselves referring to the mainsite over and over again. Icons that link to the mainsite and journal are below.

A couple of announcements for this weekend and the upcoming Adams Ave Roots Festival!
Saturday- we will be hosting a members-only training session at noon. The past two Saturdays we've devoted this time to the Olympic lifts, but we can work on anything you want- powerlifts, double unders, gymnastics, etc. This will be the last free Saturday session; from here on out we'll be charging a small fee for the coaching.
Also on Saturday- free, open community workout at 2pm! Anyone of any experience level is welcome. This is a great way to be introduced to CrossFit. Coaches will be at the gym all day running the workouts and answering any questions. Come on in!
Sunday- our regular free community workout will be going at noon! Again, this is open to anyone, no experience necessary. Come on in and bring a friend. The Roots Festival will be going on both days and we expect a lot of foot traffic.
Check out this video of one of the recent classes doing "Annie". Second go around for most of these athletes and EVERYONE set a PR! Keep working on those double unders everyone- practice makes perfect!
CrossFit Elysium will be hosting a special fundraiser to help out one of our neighbors. You can read all about what happened to their studio here. (http://www.graciesd.com/relief-fund.html)
The workout will be held on Saturday the 17th at noon. The workout will be a simple yet very challenging, participation is open to all skill levels. We will be asking for a small donation to participate in the workout and all funds will go directly to Robert Lovi to rebuild his studio.
Feel free to bring a friend or two. If you have never been to our gym this would be a great time to come by and see what we are all about...and help us help our neighbor!!!
We look forward to seeing many of you!!! Keep checking back for more details.
After a break last weekend for the CrossFit SD/AZ Sectional competition (see below), we're back on for our usual Sunday FREE community workout! Come join us on 4/4 at noon, no prior experience necessary, all fitness levels welcome. This is a great way to be introduced to what CrossFit Elysium is all about!

Congratulations to Paul Estrada!
Congratulations to owner/head trainer Paul Estrada, who is the 24th fittest man in the SD/AZ area! Paul worked through three grueling WODs this weekend, some of which just might find their way to an affiliate near you sometime soon...
Owner/head trainer Leon Chang and our very own Danielle Saunders acted as judges throughout the event, and Alessandra Wall put in some serious work as a volunteer. Special thanks to Brandon Verdon who came out to support Paul on both days.

Paul during the heavy (70lb) kettlebell swings.
Paul, post WOD 1. Any of you recognize this position?
Leon Chang and Alessandra Wall.
Leon Chang and Danielle Saunders before the first event.
Leon and Danielle judging during WOD 1. Note the droopy arms in the athlete Danielle is judging (understandable for anyone that's ever swung a heavy KB).
This Sunday, 3/28 there will NOT be a community open workout. The coaches will all be either competing or judging at the CrossFit SD/AZ sectional competition all weekend! Wish Paul Estrada luck! Follow his progress online at crossfit.com or better yet come out to CrossFit SoCal to watch and cheer him on in person!

News- additional goodness coming to classes!
Thursday, 04 March 2010 22:47
Starting this week, we're going to use Tuesday and Thursday classes to go over some of the more complicated elements of CrossFit. Each session, we'll spend a good 15-20 minutes going over some of the finer points of biomechanical principles, theory, diagrams and so forth. A lot of you have been asking for this and a more thorough mental understanding of each movement will definitely help the physical execution of that movement.
Of course, we'll still have the usual strength and WOD component as well, so you don't have to worry about missing out on that part.
5PM and 6PM classes now running!
Tuesday, 02 March 2010 07:35
It's official... we now have both the 5 and 6pm classes up and running! Members- don't forget to turn in your bio sheets so we can get you on the website.

Bio: I've been fortunate enough for most of my life to not "have to" work out to maintain good shape. I discovered CrossFit shortly before my first pregnancy and it definitely helped me achieve an ideal state of health and an uncomplicated pregnancy. After I delivered I returned to CrossFit, quickly lost 45lbs, brought myself down to 19% body fat and got an ever better body than I had pre-pregnancy! Obviously, I'm hooked.
