CrossFit.com is THE mainsite, the place where it all started. Videos of workouts, movements, journal articles- everything is here and the vast majority of it is free. Any serious CrossFitter will find themselves referring to the mainsite over and over again. Icons that link to the mainsite and journal are below.

I am the co-owner and co-founder of CrossFit Elysium and a CrossFit Level I certified trainer. I am also an MD specializing in anesthesiology and am the Associate Clinical Director at my hospital. As such, I bring a deep understanding of human anatomy and physiology to CrossFit Elysium in general and my training in particular.

My personal journey with CrossFit has been a phenomenal experience. When I was first introduced to CrossFit by a friend, I thought I was in "reasonably good shape". I've always been an athlete and tried to stay "healthy". I was just bored with my routine at your typical big gym and wanted to try something new. The first workout SHATTERED me. There were elderly women moving much faster and smoother than I was while I was sucking wind trying desperately to keep up. That experience was a wake-up call. I realized I was overweight (but not compared to most of America!) and my conditioning wasn't nearly what I thought it was. I resolved to try CrossFit for "a few months" with the goal of losing weight and just generally getting in better shape. I figured I'd lose a few pounds and maybe gain some better conditioning.

Within a couple of months, I lost over 25lbs of pure fat and put on solid muscle. I literally could (and still can) see every one of my "abs". These things mattered a lot to me at the time so I was hooked. I made other huge gains which I now know are even more important- my functional strength, joint stability and cardiovascular endurance all went through the roof. The most amazing thing to me was that these changes occurred so quickly, working out for 10 to 20 minutes on average! There was no longer a need to go to the gym for hours at a time, get on the useless treadmill, do biceps curls, and so on.

That experience really got the ball rolling. I immersed myself in learning more about CrossFit and fitness in general. Without any plans to train professionally, I obtained my Crossfit trainer certification out of my own pocket because of my love of CrossFit and the fact that I was now training several colleagues already. Once I met my fellow trainer and co-owner Paul Estrada the seeds of CrossFit Elysium were planted.

CrossFit Elysium represents many things to me. I want to pass the personal success I have had from CrossFit on to as many other people as possible and having my own CrossFit affiliate is the best way to do that. This is also a business venture for me, and the best way for my business to succeed is to give my clients the best possible product. All of these reasons ensure that when you train at CrossFit Elysium you will be receiving personal attention and top-level instruction.

As I continue to be a full-time anesthesiologist I train clients on a limited basis only. Drop by CrossFit Elysium, email or call me to set something up!

Co-owner/Co-founder

I have been a personal trainer for over four years and my love of training is stronger than ever. I have always been on the lookout for new and more effective ways of training in order to provide the best service possible for my clients while helping them achieve their goals. Since I discovered Crossfit through a friend almost two years ago, I have fully committed myself to understanding the concepts and to teaching it to others in the most effective and safest manner possible. In the past year and a half of studying CrossFit, I have come to the realization that is it far beyond any other program available. I have held, and still hold, several training certifications from very large agencies, but in all honesty I don't care to share them because on a practical level they are not useful to training my clients. Being a CrossFit trainer is by far the title I am most proud of, and I stand by CrossFit training 100%. When I work with clients, I help them become better in all aspects of fitness: health, both physical and mental, diet, outlook and so much more. By doing so I can help bring improvements to every component of their lives.

I discovered at an early age that being active and fit feels great, so health and fitness have always played a major role in my life. When I was younger I was into dancing, track and field, rollerblading and bicycling.  I enjoyed running and skiing all through my teens and twenties, and ran on the cross country team at CSU, Chico.  After college, I trained for and ran several competitive races including the Silver Strand Half Marathon.  Later I joined a big cookie-cutter gym, heavy on machines, where I designed my own workouts based on out-of-date methods I learned in college.

After my daughter was born in early 2009, I really turned up the heat on my workouts to get back in shape.  I followed my usual old routine including a moderate diet but was never able to quite get back to my original weight.  A friend who was also a new mom invited me to her home a few times where they had a CrossFit garage gym. I was hooked after the first workout!  It was different, intense, and best of all, not monotonous or boring. They were constantly doing something new.  In only a few months, I had my pre-pregnancy body back and it was even better than before—this time I was stronger than ever, despite my previous attempts on the weight machines.  Another great motivator is that the workouts are generally 30 - 45 minutes including warm-up and cool down, NOT 90 minutes like my old workouts.  As a new busy mom, this is very important to me.  It didn’t take long to realize this is the best thing I have ever done for my health.

I’ve made more gains and improvements in my level of fitness during my first year of CrossFit than I have in the past 15 years of working out.  I am now in my 30s and can easily say I am in the best shape of my life. I owe it all to two things, CrossFit and good nutrition.  A healthy, well balanced diet that provides adequate sources of high quality protein, low glycemic index foods and the proper fats and oils will dramatically change your overall well-being and improve your workouts tremendously.

My successes inspire me to want to share this lifestyle with others.  Health and nutrition have always been frontrunners in my life, and those who would like to share these values are invited to join us.  I believe that if you’re going to do something, you should do it right;and when it comes to fitness training, that means CrossFit. CrossFit has been proven to work by measurable, observable, repeatable facts that we call “evidence-based fitness.”

One of my mentors once told me I was training to “not suck at life.”  I challenge you to do the same!  Come by or call me and let’s get started!
